🚀 Your Weekly Slice of UK Consumer Startups #30
3 startups to watch out for this Black Friday (trust us) 🛍️
Hey 👋
This week had a bit of everything. Award wins, DIY sampling setups, and startups being refreshingly honest about the chaos of building in public.
With Black Friday around the corner, we’ve switched things up for the Bitesize Playbook and picked out three startups we’ve been loving recently that are running deals worth knowing about. Their links are included, so give them a look and let us know what you think.
Let’s get into it 🤝
👀 ICYMI: Brand Moves Worth Watching
👑 Gillian Anderson wins Entrepreneur of the Year: because of their name, G Spot still cannot sell on Amazon. Brands built on honesty and real representation deserve visibility on shelves and online. Hopefully retailers catch up soon. 🛠️ Good Kynd get creative: With sampling activations coming up, co-founders Sophie and Aiden built their own stand from scratch. Creativity beats budget. 🥨 Gusto Snacks NPD built in public: Giuseppe’s intern quit, there are delays and plenty of setbacks, but 5,000+ people have signed up since he announced the project. The journey is rarely smooth, but the collaboration and transparency is exactly why the community is so invested. |
💡 Bitesize Playbook: Black Friday Edition
3 brands that have caught our eye recently and are well worth checking out. Not only that… they are all running 40% off this Black Friday 😮💨
From selling 100 boxes a few years ago to 1,000 last Black Friday, it has been a journey of graft, mistakes and growth. Keelan is back for 2025 aiming for 1,001 boxes. With a mission to become the first brownie brand in retail, this year they’re offering 40% off Bwownie Bites. Only 1,001 boxes available in the limited drop.
Founded by sisters Taya and Lucy after discovering Korean pear juice in Australia, Nashi became their go-to ritual for nights out, long weekends and marathon training. The drink helped them wake up fresh and energised the next day, inspiring them to bring it to the UK. Ideal for anyone wanting to enjoy the night and still own the morning.
Created by nutritionist Bethany after her breast cancer diagnosis, Mush was born from the functional mushrooms that helped her stay strong through treatment and recovery. Today the range supports immunity, energy, hormone balance and resilience, a great boost as we head into winter.
